Day 1: Charming Geneva

On day 1, arrive to Geneva. This city is often known for stunning scenery and beautiful lakes nearby.

Firstly, set your sights on the tallest water fountain in the world: Jet d’Eau. Then, consider doing a boat trip on Lake Geneva. It’s well worth your time.

But the best advice I can give you is to stroll in the streets of Geneva. This city is great to walk without destination and is a great option for picnics by the lake!

Best time to visit Switzerland

Switzerland is a beautiful country to visit throughout the year, and the best time to visit depends largely on the activities you plan to do.

I visited Switzerland in March. The weather was great, I still got to see snow in Grindelwald, and I was lucky to see Lake Blausée during the sunlight. It was amazing!

Switzerland on Summer (June to August)

This is the season that receives more tourists. The weather is generally warm, making it ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, boat tours, and exploring picturesque landscapes. You can also enjoy various festivals and events, for example, the Fête de la Musique in June.

However, tourist places can be crowded, and prices may be higher.

Switzerland on Autumn (September to November)

Autumn in Switzerland offers pleasant temperatures and a beautiful fall ambiance. The crowds begin to disappear, and you can enjoy a more relaxing experience. It’s a great time to visit Swiss cities such as Geneva, Zurich, or Lugano. It’s also the popular grape season in Switzerland, so you can explore the Swiss vineyards and enjoy wine tastings.

However, be prepared for some rainy days during these months. The positive side is prices are cheaper.

Switzerland on Winter (December to February)

Switzerland is famous for its breathtaking ski resorts, creating a winter wonderland for adventurous travelers. The Swiss Alpes are particularly popular during this season, and it’s easy to understand why. There are lots of winter activities you can do, from skiing, to snowboarding or even sledding. Christmas markets add a charming touch to your visit.  However, be prepared for some rainy days during these months. The positive side is prices are cheaper.

Switzerland on Spring (March to May)

Spring in Switzerland welcomes milder weather and flourishing landscapes. The snow starts to melt and you can witness stunning scenery. It’s a great time for hiking, exploring Swiss cities, and in warmer days discover Swiss lakes. This is the ideal season to enjoy outdoor activities without the crowds of the summer. However, the weather might be difficult to preview, alterning between sunny and rainy days.

Having dinner in Switzerland can be expensive. A meal in the country is usually more than 30 CHF and tends to soar a lot with wine and dessert. But the experience is so worth it! Don’t miss the chance to have a delicious lunch with a view to the Swiss Alps. I mean it!
