I never planned for the Bahamas to reshape my entire life — but it did. In ways I never expected. The blue water. The bucket list experiences. The desertedness of the places. Everything felt surreal to us.

Look at those blues! Change the seat, I want to see it. The first moment we rested silently with our jaws dropped didn’t take long to happen. It happened right at our plane window, overlooking the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea from above. Wowww. We couldn’t stop smiling, like we were two little kids. We felt so lucky being there together, it was as if all of our problems and stress vanished away. I’ll never forget the feeling. We’ll never forget it. Little did we know, this was just the beginning.
Our first day. We had just arrived and it was getting late, so we ran to Jolly Hall beach (one of my favorite Exuma beaches) just steps from the resort we were staying at. The landscape felt tropical, the water was sparkling blue, and orange hues were starting to pop into the sky. I couldn’t believe it. Look! A stingray just came across our eyes, and we have never seen anything like this anywhere else, especially in the wild. How is this even real? A place like this exists and is deserted. We were there alone. Alone.

- Swam with nurse sharks
- Walked on a tropical sandbar
- Snorkeled the Thunderball Grotto (the James Bond Cave!)
- Met the swimming pigs
- Snorkeled underwater wrecks (including Pablo Escobar’s plane wreck!)
- Visited an island home to more iguanas than people
- Crossed multi-millionaire private islands
It’s today! The extraordinary Exuma Cays Tour which was going to whisk us away to live all those bucket list experiences. I have to admit, I was particularly excited about visiting the sandbar!
In just one day, we encountered more unique experiences than we ever imagined. That day, we’ll never forget it. From the moment we were shocked by the beauty of a tropical sandbar to the moment we felt the adrenaline of swimming with the nurse sharks for the first time or snorkeling a plane wreck (yes, a plane wreck!) – again, we couldn’t stop smiling.
Everywhere we looked. Everywhere we turned. No matter how remote we were, somewhere around the Exuma Cays, the landscapes were breathtaking and the water the bluest we’ve ever seen. I’ll never want to go back to Portugal again – we said. The best money we’ve ever spent.
Perhaps what continued to shock us the most, besides the blue water, was the desertedness of the places we were in. Everything felt raw, authentic. No crowds could disturb us. And suddenly, as we continued to navigate across those spectacular tropical islands. That island over there… Can you see it? It’s called Musha Cay. Only celebrities stay there and the price for a single night can be up to $50,000 – our guide explained. The owner brought exotic animals to the island, including giant tortoises and even monkeys – he continued. All those water toys are available to the guests. That moment was engraved in my memory. How amazing would it be to stay there – with all those water toys? I wondered.

Another aspect that left us speechless was the emptiness of the beaches. Imagine the most secluded shores, where palm trees line the coastline and coconuts rest in every corner. You look around and see… no one. How is this even real? A place like this is expected to be overcrowded.
We have just reached the stunning Tropics of Cancer Beach. I must confess, even reaching the beach felt like a real adventure as we walked for a few minutes, unsure where Google Maps was leading us. The roads were unpaved. The wild always felt real in Exuma – making us feel, we really were on a remote island. Few places make you feel this way, and it’s part of the magic here.
The beach! Look at that water. Again, we ran like two little kids as if we’d seen a beach for the first time. No one was there. We were alone. Alone. Only the two of us, surrounded by these spectacular waters and over a mile of white-sand. We felt so happy.

The Bahamas made me feel a sense of wellness I’ve never felt before. Between walking on spectacular sandbars or getting lost on deserted beaches, the bucket list experiences were varied and moments after arriving, I realised… I never want to leave.
And the truth is simple: a trip here won’t fix your life. But it will give you the space to breathe again, regain clarity, and reconnect with yourself in a way that’s rare in the real world.
Romance here can never be forgotten

Imagine a tropical beach, with the bluest waters in the world. You look around. Only you and your partner are there. Would you go? I want that for your relationship.
I cannot promise a trip to the Bahamas will endure your relationship forever, like a magical remedy to fix your fights and erase your frustrations. What I believe is that experiences here pull you closer. Romance here feels effortless. Everything you experience here with your partner will mark you forever. Even years from now, you’ll still remember that moment when you reached a sandbar together, the thrill of jumping to the water full of sharks holding hands, or that plane window view where you can’t stop smiling at each other.
I know it – because I have personally experienced it. This trip endured my relationship for too many years, and even after we eventually separated – simply because happiness was no longer there -, the Bahamas continues to be the strongest link between us. When we loved each other the most.

The Mission behind Travel Seeker Abroad
The Bahamas transformed my life. I wanted others to experience the same, so I knew I needed to share my experience. So I started Travel Seeker Abroad. To inspire others to increase their well-being or spice up their relationships, because I have personally experienced it.
I want the same for you.
Why I curate only transformative experiences
Transformative experiences are the ones that stick with us the longest. In my opinion, these are the ones worth living for. My mission, and my deepest wish, is to inspire you to live transformative experiences in the Bahamas, as it can change your life. Just as it changed mine!
I’m referring to bucket list experiences such as Island-Hopping Tours, Yacht Charters, or even Private Island Rentals that allow you to feel as if you’ve found your own slice of paradise. Private candlelight dinners for couples. Or the most magical experiences crafted just for you in exclusive luxury villas, located on the most secluded corners. And I bet you’ll never want to leave.
The reasons that led me to begin
- Digital Marketing Course: Interestingly, that year, in 2023, I took a digital marketing course which was really practical and inspired me to begin this project. It was not easy though. I learned a lot about SEO (basically, how to rank websites on Google), but there was still so much more outside of my comfort zone. How will I create the design of my website? How will I sell digital products, or even create them? Questions were popping into my mind. And to learn what I was lacking, I spent countless hours learning on YouTube while still at a full-time job.
- Passion: Looking back, I always knew… If I wasn’t passionate about marketing and the Bahamas, I would have given up a long time ago, probably even before starting. It was the passion that led me to keep going, when everything was telling me to stop.
- Guides: During the journey, I met so many important guides. Real people who helped me, without really asking anything in return. I’ll be forever grateful to have met them. They are part of my journey forever.
Final Thoughts
The website was never planed to be created
Reflecting on it now, Travel Seeker Abroad was never intended to be created, nor was it originally designed to become a business. It emerged from a few days of deep happiness in the Bahamas and the desire to apply the marketing knowledge I had recently acquired from a course. Soon after April 2023, when the website was created, it soon became a passion.
The Bahamas transformed my life. And yours can too.
This vacation changed my life. The experiences made me feel a sense of wellness I never felt before. And my relationship? It was stronger than ever. I want the same for you.
