San Salvador’s diving sites are unlike any other in The Bahamas. This small, serene island is renowned for its spectacular reef and wall diving, as well as one of the best shark dives in The Bahamas. With 50+ diving sites, San Salvador is often considered a diver’s paradise.
Just like the offshore, the in-land is packed with spectacular attractions. Beaches are secluded by definition and natural parks protect rich and varied animal life – including Rock Iguanas and countless bird species.
Interestingly, this is also one of the few islands where Christopher Columbus once anchored. Stepping here – is anything but ordinary.
Highlights
Christopher Columbus Landfall
Perhaps the most photographed place on the island. A stone cross that marks Christopher Columbus’ first landfall in The Bahamas.

50+ Diving Sites
San Salvador is unlike any other island. You’ll find all sorts of diving sites – including walls, shipwrecks, sharks, and reefs. Devil’s Claw and Hole In The Wall are renowned for their mesmerizing walls; Vicky’s Reef is among the best reefs off the coast of San Salvador.

Great Lake National Park
A National Park on San Salvador that stretches through most of the island. It is also an important protected area. Here, you can spot endangered Rock Iguanas and several bird species.

Miles of Untouched Beaches
The beaches on San Salvador are secluded by definition. Among them, Grotto Beach and Bonefish Bay Beach are almost impossible to resist.

Adventure-seeking divers will love San Salvador. Don’t miss popular diving sites like Vicky’s Reef, Runway 10, or even Shark Alley.

Island Hop to Rum Cay
Hop on a boat and explore the nearby Rum Cay. Interestingly, you’ll be replicating the path that Christopher Columbus made back in the New World.
