7 Best Islands in Bahamas for Beaches

1. The Exumas

Have you ever walked on a tropical sandbar? In The Exumas, you can. Have you ever relaxed at a tropical beach – with no one around? In the Exumas, you can! The Exumas is home to the most spectacular beaches I’ve ever seen. With over 300 islands scattered along The Bahamas, there’s plenty of beauty to take in.

Beaches in Exuma are spectacular, so spectacular you will pinch yourself. Think of tropical beaches made of palm trees and blue waters. You look around, and there’s no one nearby. The Exumas will give you that kind of experience.

In addition, this island offers some of the best bucket list experiences in the world – including walking on sandbars. Matched with the exciting diving opportunities on the island, turn The Exumas into an irresistible beach destination where you can relax and add a bit of adventure.

For example, you can swim with friendly nurse sharks or snorkeling a grotto teeming with marine life. Ah – and swim with the swimming pigs!

This beach destination is my favorite, and you need to visit it.

3. Conception Island

Conception Island is a fascinating and remote island in The Bahamas. An escape here will whisk you away to a tranquility you didn’t expect.

Not all travelers know about this tropical island. Not anymore! Conception Island beaches are gorgeous, allowing you to feel your own slice of paradise. Some say these beaches are one of the most unspoiled you will ever see.

For you, this means uncrowded beaches, crystal-clear waters teeming with marine life, and untouched natural scenery.

This tropical island is so unspoiled, that you can find some of the Bahamas’ healthiest reefs – and guess what, you may be the first one exploring a dive here!

With a reputation of being the most natural pearl in The Bahamas, Conception Island deserves a place on this list. If you’re staying on Long Island, you can charter a boat or sail yourself to Conception Island.

4. Long Island

White-powdery beaches and blue water. Long Island is another gorgeous Caribbean Island, perfect for relaxing and escaping the chaos. In fact, when Christopher Columbus anchored the island in 1492, Columbus described it as ‘the most beautiful island in The Bahamas‘.

One of the highlights of Long Island is Cape Santa Maria, renowned as one of the best beaches in  Bahamas. In addition, most of these beaches remain uncrowded. For you, this means you can unwind away from the chaos on this tropical island.

In addition, this Bahamas island is home to Columbus Point, a tropical beach where the navigator has anchored centuries ago. For those who are also interested in culture, Long Island remains one of the best Bahamas Islands.

Feeling you need to recharge your energy? In Long Island, that will become a reality!

5. Grand Bahama

With pristine beaches straight out of Hollywood, Grand Bahama offers an exciting ‘Pirates of The Caribbean experience’. More than basking in the sun, travelers who visit the island can relive scenes from the film.

Because of that, Gold Rock Beach attracts families every year in search of this spectacular experience. This beach is also one of the most gorgeous, creating a long-mile sandbar on low tide, perfect for a walk – whether it is a romantic getaway or a family escape. And if you feel like exploring nature, The Lucayan National Park is just a few steps away, where you will find the largest underwater cave systems in the world.

6. Ragged Islands

Few places are as untouched as the Ragged Islands. A chain of tropical islands that remain sparsely unpopulated and home to spectacular blue waters.

In the Ragged Islands, there are only two rules: sail and relax. It’s no wonder that boaters choose to hop from island to island, anchoring their boat wherever they feel like it. Sometimes, there is even no Internet connection, allowing visitors to unwind on tropical beaches away from the chaos. The Ragged Islands will give you that kind of experience.

If you don’t island hop here, you haven’t seen anything. Think of it as an experience to sail, anchoring on a remote beach whenever you wish. And each beach is even more extraordinary than the last.

A visit here is nothing short of remarkable, making this island one of the best Islands in Bahamas for beaches.

The beaches remain unexplored, and the underwater world is one of the healthiest you’ll ever see. This paradise island offers an authentic Bahamian experience, opposite to crowded islands such as Nassau.

Oh – and did I mention this island is also a natural habitat for a variety of animals, including the Endemic Rock Iguanas?
